The National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) has officially asked controversial musician Speed Darlington to appear in person before the agency on Friday to explain his recent remarks involving an alleged sexual contact with a child.
The invitation comes in wake of a viral Instagram live video in which the musician supposedly admitted to having sexual contact with a 15-year-old girl.
According to the agency, the activities constitute violations under the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act (TIPPEA) 2015, as well as the Cybercrime (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015.
In the video that originally went viral on Tuesday, Speed Darlington claimed to have participated in sexual activity with the juvenile and handed her ₦2,000 later.
NAPTIP said that the artist’s assistance is important for a comprehensive probe into the incident, warning that failing to reply might result in additional legal action.
