Shutters
Network International (SNI), a thriving global community of creative
professionals and enthusiasts across photography, videography, content
creation, and visual storytelling in partnership with global imaging giant Canon
has once again proven the transformative power of creativity in education.
In a
groundbreaking and deeply impactful collaboration with Brethren College,
Chinka, SNI hosted a free, intensive outreach program for senior
secondary students and teachers, offering hands-on training in photography,
videography, content creation, personal development and visual storytelling.
Over 50 students and 10 teachers from SS1 and SS2 participated in both
indoor and outdoor practical sessions, expanding their creative horizons and
igniting new passions.
The
outreach, led by Ofemz Studios, Trypod Photography, and the event
coordinator Ms. Al-Berry Photography (a teacher at Brethren College and
proud member of SNI), delivered not just education but inspiration. Through
real-time camera handling, visual thinking, digital storytelling strategies and
personal development – a mind shift needed for growth and change, participants
were equipped with industry-relevant skills and an entirely new lens through
which to view the world.
Speaking at
the close of the event, the principal of Brethren College expressed profound
gratitude:
“This is a
legacy. The school has not seen anything like this before. It’s so impactful
and inspiring that we intend to begin a lasting partnership with Shutters
Network International. It will be recorded at my handover note that this
memorable event happened in my time, thank you”.
Beyond the
technical sessions, SNI extended mentorship opportunities to students
affirming our belief that sustained relationships, not one-off events, are the
true catalysts for change.
This
outreach underscores Shutters Network International’s mission: to
democratize creative knowledge and empower the next generation of visual
storytellers especially in underserved and emerging communities. With the
support of Canon and our passionate community of creatives, we continue to
bridge the gap between talent and opportunity.
